(Mon Mothma appeared for like thirty seconds in Return of the Jedi but was a huge figure in the early tie-in novels. She was apparently the commander of the Alliance? And in the tie-in novels she's the first head of state for the newly formed republic and she and Leia spend a lot of time talking about destiny while gazing at sunsets out the window. I did not know until I wrote this that I shipped it!)
